Dozens of dogs rescued from southern Indiana puppy mill

According to Martin County Humane Society, there are around 100 dogs being taken from the puppy mill.

MARTIN COUNTY (WTHR) — The Martin County Sheriff's Department and Animal Control have shut down a puppy mill with dozens of dogs.

According to Martin County Humane Society, 30 dogs were taken from the property on Thursday night.

There are an estimated 30 to 50 more dogs, plus other animals including horses and donkeys. Some of the dogs found on the property were already deceased.

Police arrested Julia K. Arney for animal neglect and animal cruelty Friday. She is being held on a $20,000 cash bond.

The humane society only has capacity for 14 dogs, however, three other rescue organizations have stepped up to help.

The dog breeds are Australian Shepherds and Yorkies.

"If you have a rescue organization that can help us, please private message us as soon as you can."
The shelter says none of the dogs are currently available for adoption.
"Keep in mind this is part of a criminal investigation and at this time we are just concerned about keeping some of these animals alive and getting them the health care they need," a post reads.

Anyone wishing to donate to the cause can do so here (see donate button at the bottom of the post).
