Tippecanoe County, Ind. (WTHR) – A crash in Tippecanoe County involving a car and a motorcycle has claimed the life of one man and seriously injured a passenger.
The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's office responded to a crash at the intersection of US 52 W and Paramount Drive around 5:32 Saturday.
The driver of the car, 21-year-old Caleb Swift, was turning left from US 52 W towards the entrance to Avenue South Apartments. The motorcycle was traveling East on US 52 W.
According to reports from the sheriff's office, Swift failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle causing the crash. The motorcycle struck the vehicle, ejecting both passengers.
The driver of the motorcycle, John Crowell, suffered fatal injuries. The passenger, Shari Crowell, was air lifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with serious injuries.
The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by West Lafayette Police and Fire Departments, Wabash Township Fire Department, Purdue Ambulance and TEAS Medic Service.
Drugs or alcohol are not a factor in this crash.
