Brownsburg man killed in crash in backed-up traffic after I-65 pursuit

Several semis were involved in the crash just north of Louisville early Tuesday, moments after a pursuit ended in a crash on I-65.

CLARK COUNTY, Ind. — A UPS driver from Brownsburg was killed in a crash on Interstate 65 in southern Indiana early Tuesday.

Patrick Harvey, 25, was driving south on the interstate, just north of Louisville, Nov. 7 when state police say he crashed into three other semis that had been involved in a crash in backed-up traffic. State police said traffic had stopped for a crash involving a Charlestown man who had led police on a pursuit.

Police said the pursuit originated in Scott County and that the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Dylin Taylor, was reportedly driving 120 mph with a woman and child in the car. Stop sticks and other measures were deployed, to no avail. Taylor ended up crashing into an ISP trooper’s vehicle about three miles north of the Ohio River.

The crash stopped traffic and caused a chain-reaction crash between three semi-trucks on I-65 South. Then, a fourth semi slammed into the three semi-trucks.

Harvey, who was driving the fourth semi-truck, was killed, and a person who was in the sleeper of the semi-truck was injured. Another semi-truck driver involved in the crash was also injured.

Officials believe both people injured are likely to survive, but didn't release the severity of their injuries. ISP officials said the woman and child who were passengers in the suspect's car are expected to be OK.
