Teen in 'serious but stable condition' after single-car crash on Indy's east side

Witnesses told IFD the "rain slick roads and speed" may have been a contributing factor.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating a single-car crash Tuesday morning on the east side of Indianapolis that sent an 18-year-old to a hospital.

Around 9:30 a.m. on June 18, the Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) said their crews responded to the 6400 block of East Washington Street, near South Arlington Avenue, after an 18-year-old driver crashed his car into a pole.

IFD said crews extracted the driver in approximately 45 minutes. 

Medics transported the driver to Eskenazi Hospital in "serious but stable condition," according to IFD.

Witnesses told IFD the "rain slick roads and speed" may have been a contributing factor.
