INDIANAPOLIS — Students at IU Indianapolis will soon have the opportunity to get a head start on their career through a new program.
The university has partnered with Eli Lilly to develop a first of its kind co-op program.
The idea is for students to get their foot in the door early to create a pipeline for companies like Eli Lilly to retain talent, while keeping college graduates in Indianapolis.
Students studying business, health and human services, and information technology will have the opportunity to apply for the program in the fall. The chosen applicants will be placed in paid internships at Lilly and they will get college credits for their work.
Lilly and IU Indy are still working out some of the details, including how much students will get paid and how many students can participate in the program.
Both organizations hope this new collaboration will be a blueprint for similar partnerships, which will allow the program to expand.
Enrollment for the first round of this program begins later this year.
