TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — Indiana State Police is investigating the death of an inmate at the Tippecanoe County Jail early Monday.
Around 1:30 a.m. April 8, jail staff located an inmate suffering an apparent medical emergency, police said.
"Despite life-saving efforts, the inmate was pronounced deceased at the jail by the Tippecanoe County Coroner," a state police spokesperson said in a statement.
Police said an initial investigation indicated no signs of foul play, and an autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death.
The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office will release the inmate's name at a later date, police said.
