CRAWFORD COUNTY, Mo. β€” An Indiana man was stopped by police in Missouri over the weekend while driving his vehicle that is totally "out of this world."

Steve Anderson was pulled over on Interstate 44 in Crawford County, Missouri in his custom-built UFO. The deputy stopped Anderson to check out the unique vehicle and to talk to him about his out-of-state registration.

"He was also warned about our strict enforcement of warp speed on the interstate and to keep his phasers on stun only while traveling," a Facebook post from the sheriff's department read.

Anderson said he was heading west to the 2024 UFO Festival in Roswell, New Mexico, which starts July 5.

Anderson, a mechanic by trade, said he came up with the idea for his creation when he was playing with a toy spaceship. He built the UFO with his fellow mechanic and friend Dennis Bellows, converting a Geo Metro into a flying saucer.

"When I get in that thing, it's an adventure, every time," he said.

This adventure has Anderson traveling across the country to the place that put extraterrestrial beings on the map.

"It's boring to be an adult. I wanna have fun. And I make myself have fun!" Anderson said.
