A 20-year-old Indiana man was ordered to spend 38 years in prison for the stabbing death of a teenager in a fight over a girl.

The Indianapolis Star reports that Corbin Montgomery was sentenced Friday in Hamilton Superior Court for voluntary manslaughter as part of a plea agreement.

Court records show Montgomery and 18-year-old Connor Shockley had been feuding over Montgomery's girlfriend before a June 22, 2014, house party in Fishers.

An autopsy showed Shockley was stabbed three times in the chest. One wound reached his heart.

Montgomery was originally charged with murder. Judge Daniel Pfleging sentenced Montgomery to a total of 45 years, including 38 years in prison and two years in work release. The judge suspended the other five years.
