INDIANAPOLIS — Cream and Crimson took over Kilroy's Bar and Grill Saturday afternoon, but cheers and excitement eventually turned into disappointment for IU.
"It's rough. It's rough, but honestly it's a good, somewhat reality check," said John Fanning
Fans like Fanning gathered with his college buddies to grab some food and drinks and cheer on their team.
"We have one more Ohio State fan here, Ohio State fan, and then the majority is all IU fans. So we know to go to come to Kilroys downtown to just live it up for IU so why not? So go Hoosiers all the way through. So Go Big Red," said Fanning.
It was standing room only at Kilroy's. Some fans said they got to the restaurant to stand in line before it even opened in order to make sure they got a good spot.
"The line was around the corner. It was a lot of fun. The atmosphere is great here. Like I said, a lot of Hoosiers fans," said Tucker Fenwick, an IU fan.
Fans who graduated decades ago came back to Indy to be a part of the atmosphere.
"I cannot even describe, you know, as an IU alum, I've never seen a season like this since I've been alive, said Will Vanworman.
IU had a perfect season going until Saturday.
"There's a bunch of candy stripes going on. We didn't care about that. We were over here to O-H-I-O, that's all that matters. That's all that matters. And we came out with the dub," said Tyler, a Buckeye fan.
Now, IU fans hope their team will bounce back against Purdue next week
