INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The Indiana Historical Society wants to keep you entertained and connected if you’re sheltering at home with “History Happy Hours,” a series of insightful online conversations with some of Indiana’s most interesting historians.
History Happy Hours are live virtual conversations via Zoom, with the opportunity for a question-and-answer session with the presenters. The programs are recorded and then posted to the IHS website following the live event.
The next History Happy Hour takes place Thursday, May 21 at 5:30 p.m., and the topic is "Underwear Through the Ages."
“Underwear was so affected by everything from industrialization, to pop culture,” fashion historian Karen DePauw said. “I think about Madonna's ‘Blonde Ambition’ tour of the 90s. Suddenly, we got corset tops everywhere. So, we're going to be diving into all of that stuff: what is affecting fashion, what's affecting the clothing underneath, and how those two things are working together.”
