INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Black Expo's Summer Celebration is now underway.
The first big event, the IBE Ecumenical Service, was held Thursday evening at Kingdom Apostolic Ministries on East 38th Street.
During the service, attendees sang, prayed and heard messages from guest speakers.
"This is what the forefathers did. They started with prayer, they ended with prayer. It's just an important way to get ourselves excited spiritually, to fellowship, to network and just really celebrate our culture," said Alice Watson, IBE president and CEO.
Watson said there's a lot to be excited about this year, including the Indiana Black & Minority Health Fair, a film festival, live music and parties.
Summer Celebration runs through June 30.
