INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration is underway across Indianapolis.
Monday morning's festivities kicked off with the annual business conference and mayor's breakfast.
Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett joined dozens of other people at the Indiana Convention Center to talk business and celebrate diversity in the city.
Hogsett said the annual Summer Celebration event is a time to support the community and experience Black culture.
"This is kind of the first day of a weeklong of events and it focuses on economic empowerment, growth and I think we've been making progress in the city of Indianapolis but we just need to remain dedicated to that," Hogsett said.
There are a number of other events you can attend this week, before Summer Celebration wraps up on Sunday, including the concert this Friday.
Keep in mind, the concert is moving to Carroll Stadium on the IU Indianapolis campus and it's no longer free. Tickets start at $10 for the event.
Johnny Gill is the headliner for the 2024 Music Heritage Festival on June 28. Other performers include Lalah Hathway, Morris Day, Atlantic Starr and Karyn White.
