LAWRENCE, Ind. — The holiday fun is officially underway in Lawrence.
Winterfest kicked off over the weekend with the annual holiday parade and tree lighting ceremony.
Those wishing to attend can also check out the other festivities that continue every Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 23, including ice skating and a winter market from 2-7 p.m. each weekend.
This weekend, Dec. 2-3, families can also watch a screening of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at the Theater and the Fort. Screenings will be offered Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, "The Dickens Carolers" will take the stage at Civic Plaza in the afternoon followed by musician Jason Hathaway.

The city's holiday parade and tree lighting event has grown over the years. Seven years ago, only about 150 people came out to celebrate the event. Now, the festivities see more than 3,000 people attend.
