INDIANAPOLIS — Police in Indianapolis have located a woman missing since Nov. 21.
IMPD detectives said 61-year-old Salena Johnson was last seen on Wednesday, Nov. 21 in the 3800 block of Mitthoefer Road. She may be in need of medical attention, police said.
Johnson, a 5-foot, 5-inch, 190-pound Black female with gray hair and brown eyes, was last seen wearing a black coat with fur on it, silver jogging pants and a purple bonnet. She was carrying a grocery bag.
She was reported as located on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023. No further details were released by police.
Amber Alert vs. Silver Alert: What's the difference?
There are specific standards a person's disappearance must meet in order for police to declare an Amber Alert or a Silver Alert.
Amber Alerts are for children under the age of 18 who are believed to have been abducted and in danger. Police also need to have information about a suspect and their car to issue an Amber Alert.
Silver Alerts are for missing and endangered adults or children. They are much more common for missing people. It was not until last year when the standards for Silver Alerts were expanded to include children.
In both situations, these alerts must be issued by police.
