1 injured in 'accidental, self-inflicted' shooting near Monument Circle

The shooting happened shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of North Pennsylvania and East Washington streets.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating a Saturday night shooting near Monument Circle that left one person injured.

Just after 9 p.m. May 20, officers responded to the intersection of North Pennsylvania and East Washington streets on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and found one person who was shot, according to IMPD.

Police described the victim's condition as stable. In a later update, an IMPD spokesperson said the injury was believed to accidental and self-inflicted.
