INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - IMPD is investigating the deaths of two people found dead in a home on the northwest side.

Detectives identified the victims Friday as 39-year-old Victoria Valdez and 31-year-old Vincent Grant.

Police say the two were found in the 3500 block of Soaring Eagle Court. A teenage boy in the neighborhood went to check on a friend because he wasn't on the school bus Thursday. He then ran to neighbor Robert Christopher's house.

"(The boy) was all freaked out and said there was somebody dead down there at the house. At first, I didn't believe it, so I ran down there with him. I went up to the door and just peeked in and I see a man laying on his stomach, so I ran down here and yelled at my wife and she called 911," Christopher said.

Officers saw two people through a window of the home. They found the front door slightly ajar and went in. A man and woman were found unresponsive, and one of the victims had a gunshot wound. Medics arrived and pronounced the victims dead at the scene.

An officer at the scene says at this time it appears to be a double homicide, not a murder-suicide situation. The manner of death of the second victim has not been confirmed by police.

In addition to being the daughter of a well-known business owner, the female victim was the niece of a retired police officer.

"That was really freaking me out, because the kids are usually home from school then. But they weren't there. Thank God the kids weren't home," Christopher said.

Emotions ran high at the scene after the bodies were discovered. Family members of the victims gathered on the quiet cul-de-sac off W. 34th Street near Eagle Creek Airport. Police moved the crowd away from the house where the victims were found and extra officers were called in for crowd control.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317)262-TIPS(8477).
