INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating a man's death as a homicide after he was found shot and critically injured inside of a crashed car early Saturday morning on the city's east side.
Around 1:30 a.m. Aug. 10, IMPD officers responded to a report of a crash in the 100 block of Jefferson Avenue, near East Washington Street and North State Avenue.
When police arrived, they found a man inside of the crashed vehicle. As they worked to get him out of the car, they learned the man had been shot.
Medics arrived on scene and took the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead by doctors. The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 23-year-old Reynaldo Serrano.
The coroner's office is also working to determine Serrano's exact manner and cause of death.
