INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD officers are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian Tuesday night on the south side of Indianapolis.
The crash happened around 9 p.m. Feb. 6 in the 8900 block of U.S. 31 South, near County Line Road. IMPD confirmed a fatality in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing. According to IMPD, investigators believe the pedestrian was crossing the street, but was not in a crosswalk or intersection, when the northbound vehicle struck them. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Police confirmed the pedestrian died at the scene.
Wednesday morning, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the pedestrian as 38-year-old Cody Rex Highfield.
