IMPD announces retired K-9 officer has died

INDIANAPOLIS โ€” A retired IMPD K-9 officer has died.

IMPD announced Sunday, Dec. 15 that retired K-9 officer Jett passed away Friday, Dec. 13. Jett served with IMPD from Oct. 2014 to Oct. 2023 where he was paired with IMPD Detective Jim Albin later with IMPD Detective Allen Englert.

Jett was a Dutch shepherd who was born in Mexico in Dec. 2012. He was trained to locate even the smallest traces of accelerants. IMPD says throughout his career Jett worked over 400 fire scenes in Marion County and throughout central Indiana. 

He left a lasting legacy with the IMPD and IFD Fire Investigation Unit.
