Indianapolis - Traffic is moving again after a serious crash that forced the closure of Interstate 65 on Indianapolis' northwest side Friday morning.
All lanes of I-65 northbound just north of 71st street were closed to traffic after a crash involving a three vehicles around 9:30 a.m.
Chopper 13 spotted one person being taken away by Lifeline Helicopter and two others by ambulance. Police say none of the injuries are life-threatening.
Investigators say a minivan stalled in the emergency lane after running out of gas. A few moments later, another vehicle arrived delivering gas to the stalled van. That's when the semi truck crashed into the two vehicles from behind causing extensive damage. The semi truck rolled over into a ditch to the right of the interstate.
Traffic was backed up for miles in both directions. State Police reopened one lane of I-65 northbound around 12 p.m.
