BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WTHR) — It's been eight years since IU student Lauren Spierer disappeared from Bloomington.
Her case has yet to be solved, and there have not been any recent leads to give police more clues into what may have happened.
Despite the circumstances, Spierer's mother has shared a message of hope on the Facebook page dedicated to updates in her daughter's case.
"We are no closer to finding her or getting any answers," she wrote. "We continue living in the past and in the present."
Lauren's mom, Charlene Spierer, said each year the family dreads reliving the moments surrounding Lauren's disappearance as June 3 approaches. Still, they have hope.
"Hope that today someone will have the courage to tell the truth or send an email or make a call or post on social media," Charlene wrote.
The family still has a PO Box in Bloomington, but it is empty.
Charlene had a message for the people behind Lauren's disappearance and assumed death: "You've moved on, but we have not. We will never give up. There is always someone actively looking for you."
Lauren would be 28 years old today.
