SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - The new president of northern Indiana's Holy Cross College says its finances are in better shape after facing concerns about the school's future last spring.
The Roman Catholic liberal arts college in South Bend says changes include suspending the computer science, gerontology and biotechnology programs because of low enrollments. The nearby University of Notre Dame also bought 75 acres of land from Holy Cross.
Those steps come after a former vice president in May mistakenly sent an email to students saying he feared "closing down the college" because of financial troubles.
Holy Cross President Rev. David Tyson tells the South Bend Tribune the school "will be less market driven" and accept that many of its students will ultimately transfer to Notre Dame or other universities.
