ATLANTA, Ind. (WTHR) - An Anderson family is dealing with the loss of a father who was hit and killed by a semi while working on a highway in northern Hamilton County.
Co-workers erected a memorial for Justin Nance near the site of the crash.
Nance, 32, was a divorced father of three. He recently received a promotion to foreman of the E & B Paving crew that was working on U.S. 31 Wednesday afternoon.
Nance was struck by a semi that, for some reason, did not move to the left lane and hit the arrow board, which pushed that trailer and truck into Nance and a tar kettle trailer and truck.
Nance died at the scene.
The semi belonged to K & S Pallets of Fort Wayne. The company did not return our phone call on Thursday. The driver submitted to a drug and alcohol test as part of the investigation.
Crash investigators have not said if speed or distractions were a factor.
Nance served in the Marine Corps and went to work for E & B after his military service.
E & B Paving would offer no comment on the death of Justin Nance
