HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. — Police are investigating after two people were killed and four were injured in a crash in Hendricks County Wednesday morning.
That crash happened around 7:30 a.m. May 1 near the intersection of East County Road 900 South and South County Road 0. That's about five miles northwest of Monrovia.
According to a release from the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office, officers located a black Chevrolet Traverse, which was occupied by four adults, and a black GMC Sierra pickup truck, occupied by one adult and two children at the scene.
HCSO says two passengers in the Traverse were pronounced dead at the scene, while another passenger in the Traverse was transported to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Traverse, driver of the GMC pickup and two children were transported to area hospitals and are reported to be in stable condition.
According to police's preliminary investigation, the Traverse is believe to have disregarded a stop sign at the intersection at South County Road 0 while traveling eastbound on County Road 900 South.
Police say that in addition to disregarding the stop sign, excessive speed is also believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
