GREENFIELD, Ind. (WTHR) - Hancock Regional Hospital says they have been victimized by a ransomware attack.
A hospital spokesperson says an unknown party "attempted to shut down our operations via our information systems by locking our computer network and demanding payment for a digital key to unlock it."
The hospital says there is no indication that patient records have been taken from their network and that patient care at the hospital has not been compromised. Meanwhile, the hospital is working to see what information they are able to retrieve, though they do not know when their systems will be back up and running.
The hospital is working with an IT incident response company and federal law enforcement.
