HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — A man was killed and multiple people, including children, were injured in a crash in Hamilton County early Tuesday, police said.
Shortly after 6:15 a.m., Hamilton County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the intersection of 191st Street and Pilgrim Road in Wayne Township, east of Noblesville.
Preliminary information leads police to believe a Ford Mustang traveling west on 191st Street attempted to pass a Honda Accord in a no-passing zone when it hit a Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling east that had just come over a small hill.
After striking the Trailblazer, the Mustang hit the Accord.
The driver of the Mustang, identified by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office as 24-year-old Erik Pacheco Sapien, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The female driver and multiple minors in the Trailblazer were taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with relatively minor injuries, police said.
The driver and the passenger of the Accord left the scene of the crash on foot and were later found by the Anderson Police Department and Madison County Sheriff's Office. Both were interviewed by police.
The crash remains under investigation.
