The line at Greiner's Sub Shop was out the door, and Tina Scruggs was the guest of honor.
"Hopefully I'll be walking better in a few weeks, maybe. It's gonna take some time," she said.
Surveying the line of customers, Scruggs said, "If I could stand up and work this hand, I'd be helping out here. Everyone says I'm really strong."
The longtime employee got a lot of love from her customers, old and new. But she doesn't plan to return to work anytime soon.
Tina has short-term memory loss, and her road to recovery is still very long, with another possible surgery on her arm.
"I'm just learning now to try to learn to move my hand. It's been pretty rough trying to do things with this hand when you're used to doing it with (the other) hand," she explained.
But she's excited to visit her old stomping ground where everyone has a favorite sandwich.
"It's nice. I like it. Something different," she said.
Customers can't wait to see Scruggs back at Greiner's. Their donations and prayers over the months have lifted her spirits.
"I really appreciate whatever they've done for me. A lot of people's come up and seen me and I don't remember. It's nice. I really appreciate them all," she said.
