WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTHR) - A young girl from Greenwood is in Washington, D.C. being honored for an award-winning project.

Emma Stumpf made the trip to the nation's capital for the Jefferson Awards National Ceremony, which will be held Thursday night.

Emma has an inoperable brain tumor and has made it her mission to help other sick kids. She won the Jefferson Award for her idea of giving art kits to children who are in the hospital.

It's a project she calls "Emma's Art Cart."

Emma visited with the second lady Wednesday, Indiana's former first lady Karen Pence, ahead of the gala. She even got to meet the Pence family's rabbit and their newest pets, a puppy and kitten they adopted during a recent trip home to Indiana.
