'Good Samaritan' struck and killed helping stranded driver in Bartholomew County

The good Samaritan was hit Thursday afternoon about 2 miles south of Edinburgh on U.S. 31, near West 800 North.

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. — The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department is investigating after a good Samaritan was struck and killed Thursday afternoon south of Edinburgh.

According to the BCSO, a car broke down on the side of U.S. 31, near West 800 North, around 1 p.m. July 18 when what police are calling a good Samaritan stopped to help the stranded driver. 

Deputies said another driver hit and killed the good Samaritan.

The Bartholomew County Coroner's Office said it will identify the victim once family has been notified.
