Good News: FFA

Members are visiting for their national convention, and Dave Calabro asked them to share good news.

INDIANAPOLIS — On this week's Good News segment, Dave Calabro stopped by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, where members of FFA from across the country were touring. They're in town for the organization's national convention.

"So you're all going to farmers?" Dave asked a group of young women from Nebraska.

A chorus of "maybe" and "no" followed.

Dave asked the group to share some something positive about Nebraska.

"Beef!" was the unanimous response.

Gracie, a member of the Nebraska group, was celebrating her 15th birthday. Dave made sure everyone nearby knew it.

"I need everyone to sing 'Happy Birthday' to Gracie!' he shouted.

Dave Calabro spoke with attendees at the FFA National Convention for this week's Good News segment.

Dave also spoke with a group from Missouri, who said they were enjoying their Indiana visit.

"Oh, it's a lot of fun," one member said. "It's a lot different, something we've never got to experience. Big city. We've got 14 in our class."

More than 70,000 young people are in downtown Indianapolis learning about the agriculture industry, attending the convention at Lucas Oil Stadium and the Convention Center

The goal is to grow the next generation of leaders and to encourage more diverse students to go into agriculture.

The National FFA Convention runs through Nov. 4.
