INDIANAPOLIS — Our Dave Calabro is visiting Ernie Powell Elementary School on the near west side this week, looking for good news.
Principal Valerie Clark said her school has lots of it!
"So the Colts are rebuilding our playground," she said. "We are super excited. We're extremely grateful but we are also overwhelmed with joy. I cannot wait for the kids to go out on the playground and see their smiling faces and the excitement that is gonna bring to them."
Dave also checked in with some of the students, one of whom said her good news involved the school's extracurricular activities.
"We play flag football," she said. "And I'm good at soccer."
Another student told us about her favorite subject at Ernie Pyle.
"Math, because it's like fun and you can like, like do problems and you can like get smarter," she said.
And yet another student shared why she likes her school.
"Because they help me when I need help and when I break down, they help me feel better," she said.
