'Giving Machines' help 5 central Indiana charities

We first saw them at Carmel's Clay Terrace Mall last year, and they're back for a second year.

CARMEL, Ind. — It's Giving Tuesday, and you can help five local charities at the giving machine.

They're essentially vending machines that work in reverse, giving you a chance to donate items to charities in need.

We first saw them at Carmel's Clay Terrace Mall last year. They're now back for a second year.

You can give to Helping Veterans and Families, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana, Horizon House, Second Helpings and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana.

"Every charity in the giving machine, all five of the local charities, are standout pillars in our community that represent real need for Hoosiers here. They are all dedicated to making sure that our neighbors are getting things that they need," said John Gough, a Giving Machine committee member.

Each of the charities also selected the items you can choose to donate to them.

The Giving Machine will be open through Jan. 5, 2025.
