Four Indianapolis mayors meet to discuss non-partisan approach to poverty solutions

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Four Indianapolis mayors from different political parties, all sharing one stage.

It's not a sight you often see.

But it's what happened Thursday, three previous mayors. Stephen Goldsmith, Bart Peterson and Greg Ballard joined current Mayor Joe Hogsett to discuss a non-partisan approach to fighting poverty in Indianapolis.

"When Indianapolis puts its head together, we get things done. And that's why I'm passionately optimistic that we can turn the tide and make a difference for the betterment of our community," said Hogsett.

"It is important to realize, that it is very difficult to be poor without the ability to move forward because we don't really have those mechanisms in place," Ballard said.
