Franklin residents are learning more about a former neighbor who is now a central figure in the Lauren Spierer investigation.
Justin Wagers lived on Franklin's north side with his now-ex-wife. But a lot of people move in and out of the neighborhood, so only one man remembered him.
"He just kind of kept to himself," said the neighbor, who did not wish to be identified.
They talked once, when his dog got loose.
He remembers Wagers' white pick-up truck with a gray cap, the one police seized Thursday when they searched his family's property in Martinsville in connection with Spierer's disappearance.
"He always sat in the garage," the neighbor said.
Now, he's learned his former neighbor was a repeat flasher who sometimes performed sex acts in front of children.
"I never saw anything like that around here. None of the kids have said anything at lease. I've got young girls. A lot of kids are in this neighborhood," said the neighbor. "When you finally learn the things of people like that, it's horrible. Really horrible."
But in Greenwood, where Wagers lived in his teens and early 20s, former neighbor Charles Pridemore was just getting the news and says he can't believe it.
He says Wagers helped him break up a concrete pad and helped put a roof on his home. He called him "a steady worker."
"His mom and dad were the best in the world. They'd help you anytime you want. I couldn't ask for any better parents to live next door, that's for sure," Pridemore said.
He says Justin Wagers never gave him any problems, but is still keeping on the latest investigation.
"I hope it's not true, but nowadays, you never know," he said.
