INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – A former member of the Indianapolis Zoo's giraffe herd will be making an appearance on Animal Planet Sunday.

Last fall, Mshangao, a young male giraffe, left the Indianapolis Zoo and set off for a new home at the Bronx Zoo.

His journey from Indianapolis to New York will be featured as part of an episode of Animal Planet’s "The ZOO" airing at 8 p.m. Sunday.

A spokesperson for the Indianapolis Zoo says they worked with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to relocate then 2-year-old Mshangao to the Bronx Zoo, where he can now father calves of his own.

Mshangao is related to all the female giraffes in the Indianapolis Zoo’s herd.

You can watch the episode on Animal Planet at 8 p.m. Sunday or you can catch the episode online after it airs, here.
