Fishers Marching Tiger Band will be 'Santa Band' in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade debut

The band was selected in April 2022 and has been preparing since June 2023 for the performance. The group raised almost $120,000 to fund the trip.

FISHERS, Ind. — Fresh off their 12th place finish at the Bands of America Grand Nationals, the Fishers Marching Tiger Band is ready for their next gig.

Since June, the Marching Tiger Band has been preparing to make their debut in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The band has known about this performance since April of 2022, but they are now getting ready to embark on their journey to New York for one more marching performance.

"The kids' mindset has been purely competition," said Fishers High School band director Chad Kohler. "To then go back into a parade, sometimes you think, 'Oh, it's just a parade.' No, it's the Macy's parade."

Band members have raised around $120,000 to pay for the trip, but come Thanksgiving Day, it'll be an unforgettable experience.

"We can't go into this like we're just walking down the street," said Kohler. "The lines have to be crisp, the music has to be tight, and in front of millions and millions of people on TV and in New York, we're representing Fishers High School."

Making the moment even more magical, Fishers will be the "Santa Band" appearing right before the big man himself near the end of the parade.

The parade begins at 8:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and you can watch it on WTHR Channel 13.
