Crews battle large house fire near 116th Street and Brooks School Road in Fishers

The blaze was reported around 10:45 p.m. Monday in the Breakwater neighborhood.

FISHERS, Ind. — First responders in Hamilton County responded to a report of a large house fire Monday night in the Breakwater neighborhood in Fishers.

The blaze was reported around 10:45 p.m. Feb. 12 in the neighborhood near 116th Street and Brooks School Road. Someone who lived in a home across Geist saw the flames and called 911.

In a social media post, the Fishers Fire Department said the fire was in a home under construction and that some of the adjacent wooded area began to burn as well. 

More than 35 firefighters helped put out the fire and no other homes were damaged, a Fishers Fire Department spokesperson confirmed.

The spokesperson said there was no injureies, and nobody was living at the home.

Fishers police closed some roads in the neighborhood and asked motorists to avoid the area. Police said the roads were reopened around 4:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Fire investigators returned to the home in the morning and determined it a complete loss. The spokesperson said it could take weeks to determine how the fire started.

Firefighters are on the scene of a large residence under construction in the Breakwater neighborhood. The wooded area around the site began to burn as well, towards additional homes but firefighters were able to stop it before any additional structures were involved. No injuries reported at this time. Investigators are enroute.
