Firefly asks for community's help with 'Hope for the Holidays' program

INDIANAPOLIS — A local organization is asking for your help checking items off kids' Christmas lists.

Firefly is helping hundreds of kids this holiday season, but they still need gifts for 198 children, as of Friday afternoon.

“During the holidays, it’s our hope to just bring happiness to families,” said Tim Ardillo, chief development officer at Firefly. “We are going to provide holiday support to those families by way of gifts. There’s about 1,400 of them that we’re providing support to.”

The people at Firefly work with children and families who may be experiencing trauma. The caseworker helps those families build a Christmas wish list.

“It could be anything from clothes, shoes, shirts,” Ardillo said. “Maybe a little gadget or art supplies. It’s really tailored to what they want.”

Firefly makes the program happen with help from the community, and they’re looking for people who are willing to step up and help buy those toys.

“It really does bring them the hope that the holidays will be a great experience for them,” Ardillo said.

Firefly hopes to have all the gifts by Dec. 15.
