ANTHONY, Indiana — Disaster was avoided Saturday evening when firefighters were able to extinguish a car fire at a Muncie-area gas station.
According to a social media post from the Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department, around 9:13 p.m. on June 1, firefighters were called to a Marathon gas station located at 9600 Wheeling Avenue in the town of Anthony.
Firefighters arrived and found a car that had become fully engulfed in flames near a gas pump. Acting quickly, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire without any problems.
Photos posted to social media show the fire appeared to start near the engine of an SUV that was sitting near a pump. The front of the SUV was shown looking melted and charred. The rear of the car appeared undamaged by the fire.
Firefighters from the Gaston Volunteer Fire Department, Eaton Volunteer Fire Department and Albany Delaware Township Fire Department assisted Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department in snuffing the blaze.
