Firefighter injured while crews battle triple house fire on Indy's near north side

Several IFD crews battled the fire around 4 a.m. Monday morning.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Fire Department crews were busy Monday morning as they battled three separate fires across Indy, with the biggest blaze just north of downtown.

One firefighter was injured while battling a fire that spread across three residences in the 2000 block of North College Avenue, just a couple blocks from the Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

Several crews responded to the fire just before 4 a.m. and continued to battle the blaze and smoke for almost two hours.

IFD believes the main residence affected was vacant and another home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
