JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. — A Whiteland firefighter is accused of setting fire to several homes in Johnson County.
Franklin police pulled over Jake Dougherty, 18, Wednesday morning. Officers say he was impaired.
Officers also smelled gasoline inside Dougherty's car and saw soot all over his clothes.
Investigators later confirmed him as the suspect in three separate arsons that were reported Wednesday morning, two in Greenwood and one in Whiteland.
Dougherty has worked as a firefighter in Whiteland since February. The department said he's now on suspension with plans to fire him.
