Fire damages Irvington businesses

A Saturday morning fire damaged several businesses along Washington Street in Irvington.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - A Saturday morning fire damaged several businesses along Washington Street in Irvington.

Firefighters was called just after 8:30 a.m. to the corner of E. Washington St. and Ritter Avenue after fire broke out in the Black Acre Brewing Company.

The bar sustained heavy damage according to an Indianapolis Fire Department spokesman at the scene.

The fire spread to nearby Black Sheep but crews were able to stop it from spreading to other businesses along the strip, which contains nine businesses.

IFD Battalion Chief Paul McCrary estimated 20-percent of the strip was damaged, including some smoke damage at a guitar store.


No injuries were reported.

Investigators are working to determine a cause.
