INDIANAPOLIS — Investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that caused significant damage to a building on Indianapolis' near north side Thursday morning.
The fire was reported around 7 a.m. Nov. 9 near the intersection of North Illinois Street and West 22nd Street.
Crews arrived to find heavy flames and smoke coming from the back of a vacant building, IFD Battalion Chief Capt. Bruce Macy told 13News.
Crews quickly got the fire under control, and the cause is under investigation.
Macy said a civilian drove over a fire hose during the incident, and reminded citizens to never go over a hose at a fire scene.
Macy said it appears the building is salvageable.
North Illinois Street was blocked in the area for around an hour Thursday morning.
