INDIANAPOLIS — The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is celebrating the Latino community as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
On Sunday, the museum hosted its "Fiesta de la Familia," a free event for families to learn about traditions and arts from different cultures.
"I think it's just important for people to learn about other cultures and folks from all kinds of places around the world, and so this event really gives us the chance to highlight those relationships and partnerships," said Melissa Trumpey, who works at the museum. "It's the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month and so we can be part of those celebrations with all those cultures and just creating those family learning experiences."
The museum also announced its next "Take Me There" destination. It's Peru, and it starts in 2025.
The exhibit first opened in 2009, allowing people to experience other countries like Egypt, China and Greece.
