Field of Honor displays hundreds of flags for service members, first responders

This July 4 you have a chance to visit the Field of Honor flying near Lawrence.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — This July 4 you have a chance to visit the Field of Honor flying near Lawrence.

The field is hundreds of flags flying near Fort Harrison.

Each of them is flying in honor oif a past or present service member as well as first responders.

This is the second year for the display.

"Last year we had a veteran from the Korean war, totally blind, and he grabbed his flag ... he put it against his face and he said this is my flag," Jeffry Young, regional vice president of the national exchange clubs said. "I'm here for all those boys and girls who didn't come home with me. "

If you want to check out the Field of Honor, it is located at Lee Road and Memorial Park Drive near the Benjamin Harrison YMCA.

The display will be available from July 3 through July 7.
