CONNERSVILLE, Ind — Hoosiers hang special feeders and plant flowers just for a chance to see a ruby-throated hummingbird.
On Aug. 10, the Indiana Audubon Society is hosting an event to give everyone a chance to see these beautiful birds.
The 7th annual Hummingbird Migration Celebration will be in Connersville at the Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary.
There will be banding experiences, where they put tiny metal bands on the birds legs so they can track their movements. You'll be able to see young and adult birds up close and in hand.
The sanctuary also has a hummingbird prairie path where you'll have a chance to feed wild hummingbirds among the wildflowers.
There will be hourly themed nature hikes, hands-on mini-workshops on everything from beekeeping to monarch butterfly care, live birds of pray programming from the Salamonie Raptor Center and even a free fishing demonstration.
The event runs from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10.
Tickets are $10 online or $15 at the event. You can get them ahead of time online here. Kids get in for free.
