INDIANAPOLIS — A popular restaurant on Indianapolis' far east side now plans to reopen after violent incidents led to its recent closure.
In posts on social media, Fast Wok Chinese and Thai Food said the owner intends to reopen in January with "better security and crowd control."
Fast Wok, which has been in business for 30 years, had recently reopened to a long line of customers near East Washington Street and South Mitthoefer Road.
But two days after reopening, the owner, known to many customers as "mama," decided to close after five police calls, an alleged gun incident, fighting and arguing every day.
In a Facebook post, her team had said the restaurant had canceled the free Thanksgiving dinner, and explained that after two broken doors and threats of violence, "mama" no longer felt safe for her customers.
