6 displaced after far east Indy condo fire

The fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday near East 25th Street and North Mitthoefer Road.

INDIANAPOLIS — Five adults and one child were displaced after a condo fire on Indianapolis' far east side early Wednesday.

The fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. Oct. 2 in the 10200 block of Penrith Drive, near East 25th Street and North Mitthoefer Road. 

IFD Battalion Chief Rita Reith told 13News that a resident of the condo woke up to smoke and escaped with their dog. 

Firefighters worked for roughly half an hour to bring the fire under control.

Investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that displaced six people Oct. 2 in the 10200 block of Penrith Drive on Indy's far east side.

A total of four units were impacted. There were working smoke detectors in the building. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
