JOLIET, Ill. (WTHR) - A famed prison seen in movies and TV caught fire Monday night in the Chicago suburb of Joilet Monday night.

The old Joliet prison, which was originally known as the Illinois Correctional Facility, stopped holding inmates in 2002. It has been closed ever since.

The prison was featured in the opening scene of "The Blues Brothers." It's also the setting for the first season of the popular TV show "Prison Break." It was also used in the 2006 move "Let's Go to Prison" starring Dax Shepard and Will Arnett.

Fire officials say the fire started in a separate building on the prison grounds. The extent of the damage is not yet clear.
