INDIANAPOLIS — Two years after a woman was murdered outside her east side home, her family is still searching for answers about who shot and killed her.
On Thursday, the family of Monica Pirtle gathered on Crabtree Court to remember the artist and mother of three.
Pirtle was shot and killed two years ago while sitting in a car. She had just returned from a date with the father of her youngest daughter. That man was also shot but survived.
Pirtle would now be 38 years old.
Her family said they just got word from police that Pirtle’s case has gone cold. They said they’re determined for it to be solved and hope new leads will come in to lead to police to reopen the case.
Pirtle’s family said they’ve received information over the past two years that they have turned over to investigators, but said they’re frustrated at what they believe is not enough communication from police about the case.
“It comes to the point where there’s no closure for the family because the killers are still out there,” said Roy Bush, Monica’s uncle.
“We’re gonna keeping fighting until we get justice for her,” added Nickola Harrell, Monica's cousin.
